S7E12 Better Decisions For Better Mental Health

We are all on our own unique path, but you are never alone. Keep seeking, keep learning, and keep showing up for yourself.

What I learned as a journalist for 20 years - and as a mental health professional for the past 7 years - is that communication is not merely a skill. Communication can become a doorway to deeper self-awareness.
In this episode of the RRR show, I share a few principles for more effective communication. These principles are not rules to follow, but invitations to return to your center, especially when it feels hardest to do so.
We are all on our own unique path, but you are never alone. Keep seeking, keep learning, and keep showing up for yourself.

On this episode, I talk about how important it is for us to be the gatekeeper of our life and of our mind.
Our mind is a complex chemical organ that seeks the easiest path and is too easily conditioned to forge paths that are unhealthy.
After 20 years as a broadcast journalist (perpetuating the FUD Factor), I can guarantee you that there are far more good people doing good things than bad... and there are far more good things happening in the world than bad.
To support you on your journey to better mental health, I’ve gathered some of my favourite inspirational tools that can help with stress relief, confidence, habit change, and overall well-being.
These tools have been invaluable to me and I offer them to you as a gift.Explore them. See what resonates with you. And, please share them.🔗 https://redroofrecovery.com/recovery-resources

On this episode, Tanya talk about another of her favourite "snappy slogans." The "Catch It, Check It, Change It" tool can help you:
Catch unhelpful thoughts, check the unhelpful thoughts using tools from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and then change the unhelpful thoughts to more helpful thoughts.
A pioneer in CBT, Dr. David Burns (feelinggood.com) created a list of the 10 most common cognitive distortions (unhelpful thoughts). If you'd like a copy, email Tanya at redroofrecovery@gmail.com and she'll also send you a "Control" meme, for a visual reminder to stay focused on what's within your control.
