S8E4 Formula A, For Better Mental Health
When it comes to managing my mental health, I love using the tools from CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapies.
There are countless tools to help manage the "waves of life."  I notice that, when I can stay consistent & persistent in my efforts, the waves don't necessarily become any smoother - but I tend to navigate them better.  I like to think I'm becoming an expert surfer!
In this vignette, I share a simple recipe I use every day to ensure I'm able to successfully surf those waves of life!  I call this recipe my "Formula A" and it has 4 ingredients that help me boost my mood, alleviate anxiety, and prevent regrets.

On this episode, Tanya talk about another of her favourite "snappy slogans."  The "Catch It, Check It, Change It" tool can help you:
Catch unhelpful thoughts, check the unhelpful thoughts using tools from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), and then change the unhelpful thoughts to more helpful thoughts.
A pioneer in CBT, Dr. David Burns (feelinggood.com) created a list of the 10 most common cognitive distortions (unhelpful thoughts). If you'd like a copy, email Tanya at redroofrecovery@gmail.com and she'll also send you a "Control" meme, for a visual reminder to stay focused on what's within your control.
